DAY 311 - C.R.A.ZY $$$

Hey Norman,

Read today's paper yet?

Raise for Miami Official Questioned.

Chucky finally got around to writing about what Investigation Miami and others have been saying for weeks!

Remember when you sued Manny Diaz, saying about the Mega Plan: "It's outrageous. It's shameful and an embarrassment, and they ought to be ashamed of themselves."

At least the Port Tunnel is creating jobs.

But what's Bockweg doing?

"Under terms of the agreement written by Bockweg, he would get a 9 percent annual raise. His base salary would be $135,000 a year, but he would also be allowed to cash in unused vacation, sick and holiday time. With six weeks' vacation, six weeks' sick time and 11 holidays a year, that could total another $36,400 a year. Bockweg would also collect almost $27,000 in deferred compensation and an $800 monthly car allowance."

From $30,000 to $135,000?

That's some MAJOR ass kissing!

Meanwhile, in other news, Miami-Dade Unemployment Rate Climbs to 12.7 Percent.

"Miami-Dade's unemployment level climbed from 12.4 percent in July to 12.7 percent in August, according to the report from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. That marks a grim new high-water mark: the highest unemployment rate since the national recession began in 2007."

So Norman,

Why not grab the phone and call your pal Mayor Tomas.

And see if we can add one more to the unemployment line.

Commissioner Liaroff and Commissioner "I'm as crazy as my father" Suarez weren't you both spearheading the re-negotiations of employee contracts to bring them or in par to what would be considered reasonable?

You did it with the City Attorney, Executive Director and Attorney at the CRA, City Clerk, etc.? So what makes Pieter Bockweg any different? Oh, I see he is your toady. Well, this is one city employee who is in a managerial/supervisory capacity who completely opposes you both. Based on the conversations with my colleagues we are big fans of Investigative Miami and Take Back Miami. We all have agreed to expose and leak information about you both, the Mayor, remaining City Commission, and the City Manager and his staff.

This is the government of all the people and not only for a certain few. We will not have a reputation tarnished for politicians who are trying to push their agenda and enrich themselves quickly before you political terms expires. Go fuck yourselves!

His City Attorney Girlfriend Ninoshhka Perez probably wrote his contract, or at least proof read it.

Seems that there are some 'wack jobs' out there. What exactly is a wack-job?

Someone you should avoid at all costs as they may be a harm to yourself or others.

"Let's cross the street. We don't want to walk next to that wack job on the corner who's walking in circles and talking to himself."

Is that Ninoska Perez related to the Cuban radio commenter? The cronyism and nepotism is at an all time low!

Anonymous @ 7:38. She is the niece of the Cuban radio commentator. The niece is a dumbass. She is probably the most unproductive Assistant City Attorney in the Office, but Julie "I sold my ass so many times" Bru hired her a couple years ago to secure her vote with then Commissioner Regalado for her appointment as City Attorney.

Lt. Governor of California, Abe Maldonaldo, in an interview with Fox News just credited the L.A. Times for unconvering the abuse of power by city officials at the City of Bell, CA. Maldonado also mentioned legislation and ordinances will be drafted requiring for all documents to be posted on-line for transparency purposes.

The City of Miami already has such ordinances on its book, but not obeying its own laws. Chuck you know that the City is not posting information required for public viewing and about their ongoing abuses. Can you please move your ass or at very least start moving your pen? You are moving at the same pace as the City. Every time I look at you I can't to think that you might be a turtle

Newspapers have a long history of uncovering such abuses in government, even the Herald once did. But now they are just plain lazy.

The CRA for years has wasted money and done anything but reduce slum and blight, as they are legally bound to do. This has been well documented throughout the years:
http://www.docstoc.com/docs/26161508/Overtown-Agency-may-have-wasted-millions
http://www.docstoc.com/docs/26149707/2005-CRA-Oversight-Comittee-Rpt-to-City-Commission
and was the object of an official complaint to the County last year by our group: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/26113235/MDC-Formal-request-for-audit-of-Miami-CRAs about the continued violation of state law by the City.
The only difference now is:
1) the budget crisis is highlighting the major difference between how the City and the quasi-government agencies like the CRA and the DDA manage their money and are overseen.
2) They are taking it to a new level of abuse, becoming developers and constructing 10 story buildings, buying property for a film studio/ event space to compete with venues who pay them taxes, and paying these outrageous salaries to CRA employees. The kicker will be the bonding of CRA revenues to finance the billion dollar convention center which is silently moving forward to bail out the World Center Group's failed project.

Thanks Take Back Miami for exposing this long time abuse of the poor people's money yet again - maybe this time can see some real reform or finally put these agencies to sleep!

Looks like more people got the pink slip today at the MRC. Just saw an employee leaving the MRC crying.

They should ask for a job at the CRA.

I can't stress this enough Niti Motwani has been meeting with Commissioner Liaroff for months about having the CRA partner up with him to purchase his properties to develop a Convention Center around the Omni/Overtown Area.

I can't say anymore, because I'm going to give myself away.

Nitin Motwani is the principal of the failed Miami World Center Development project and DDA Board member. He has been a slumlord and horrible neighbor for years with dozens of code violations on his illegal parking lots that the City refuses to shut down. see http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2010/09/miami_officials_ignore_dda_mem.php

Brad, how much CRA money did you take?

Brad K said...

You can try to slander me that way but if you want to go there its public information and I have nothing to hide. I received a $65,000 grant to build out space for tenants on the 2nd floor and my tenant, Grand Central, received $50,000 for the same. The tenant buildout program is one of the few CRA programs that works (given that banks won't lend money and investors shy away from the dilapidated state of the neighborhood) and the results speak for themselves:
- 15 jobs created by tenants upstairs
- 35-40 jobs created at Grand Central
- Area around my building active, safe, and clean compared to blight conditions in the CRA area.
- Cleared 5 acres of rocks and opened a legal, secure public parking facility for tenants and customers.
- Demand was created for additional businesses such as food service due to the 900 customers coming into the neighborhood on event nights.
- Spent more than $80,000 of my own money to fix the RR tracks, repair sidewalks, and beautify the area including landscaping, etc.
- Spent more than $2 million renovating a 1920's historic building which is a jewel and model for the neighborhood.

In my opinion the CRA should reward success, not failure. Too many people have gotten MILLIONS (Jackson Soul food, St. John's CDC, Nitin Motwani) and not had the results we have had with such a small amount. If I create 1,000 jobs I should get 1,000 grants - that's the way CRA's are supposed to work! They should be using us as a case study as to how to reduce slum and blight, not harassing us...

Once again; the Miami Herald proves it's irrelevance in the modern world when it picks up on a story that has been circulating in the blogosphere for weeks and then requires you to sign up for an account when you try to read it online. Way to go, losers...

You go Brad!

Brad is actually a taxpayer and a stakeholder who lives within the Southeast Overtown Park West CRA. Brad is an expert on creating value. Brad can take a small grant and create jobs. The CRA takes massive amounts of taxes and it creates blight.

Dunn's choice for CRA director lives on Miami Beach. Probably none of the ten highest paid people at the CRA live within the CRA. Probably none live in Miami.
Right?

Bert Gonzalez another hire from Sarnoff's office who doubled his pay after being hired by Sarnoff appointee Pieter Bockweg was seen today driving a new BMW X5. This BMW SUV is newer than the BMW SUV driven by the other Asst CRA Director Clarence Woods.

Bert Gonzalez in his new shiny BMW SUV.

David Karsh and Pieter Bockweg out car shopping?

Why spend time working?

How clever... Grand Central now calls their friday night "party" PROPAGANDA. Why would they so blatantly use a name that is used by a club to the north? lame!

Anonymous said...

Open more clubs? Sarnoff approves clubs staying open 24/7 on NE 11th Street. Those clubs get murders, rapes, drugs, fights... And now this guy want our tax money to open more? Thieves.
