MEET YOUR NEW CITY MANAGER: TONY CRAPP JR.

It's not official yet, but it might as well be.

Unless Tomasito completely has sold his soul to the police union (in which case Armando's wife Yolanda gets the job) or unless he is actually serious about governing,  Tony Crapp, Jr. will be your next city manager.

Tony has been the longest TomASS kisser at the city, starting back in 1996, having held NO OTHER JOB outside the city or outside of the employment of TomASS.

His "promotion" from Mayor's Chief of Staff (a position that where he had so much impact that it has yet to be filled) to Assistant City Manager at $140,000 plus executive benefits was the last step in his eventual rise to become the City's top dog.

Just imagine the "public relations" coup when Tomasito can put his arm around Tony and announce that he, a Hispanic mayor, has appointed an "African American" to the City's top job.  And even though the "African American" in question is woefully unqualified, the press will eat it up.

Here is Tony's bio

"In 1998, at the age of 25, he was promoted to Chief of Staff becoming one of few African-Americans who have served in that capacity for a Hispanic elected official at Miami City Hall."

The racial/ethnic undertones are already there.

What the "bio" fails to mention is that Tony supervised two felons and a fairy, that is why he needed extra resume building from his appointment to Assistant City Manager.

"He was very active on the Metro-Miami Action Plan Trust, an organization created after civil disturbances in the 1980s to address disparities within the African-American community."

The MMAP?  Oh yeah, read the New Times article on the MMAP disaster, and why Tony resigned "because he was too busy to attend meetings."

"In January of 2010, he was selected to chair the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee on Economic Initiatives."

Tell us how that is going Tony, we are still waiting for your recommendation on how to improve the City's double digit unemployment rate.

All this bullshit resume patting is just sickening, but completely acceptable in city of Miami government, where you get a raise for showing up, and a bonus for having an idea every once in a while.

The disservice is that there are plenty of professional African Americans and others in this city who are incredibly qualified to run a city or other business but will get passed up because the only thing Mayor Regalado is looking for is the TomASS kisser with the biggest suctioned lips.

And in Tony, he's got the number one TomASS kisser.

Which is why Tony Crapp Jr, will be your next city manager.

Good god. What happened with Johnny Martinez getting this job? Say what you will about the guy, at least he was qualified.

The nincompoop syndrome continues. Mayor Regalado really knows how to fukus!

Anonymous said...

Insane.

Tony Crapp, Jr is a total lightweight. No life experience. No business experience.

Miami is facing bankruptcy and this is the best Tomas Regalado can come up with?

Anonymous said...

Tony doesn't need experience. He only needs to know how to yassir, master.

Armando Gutierrez is really running the city.

Seriously, 400,000 residents in Miami and 2 million people in South Florida and Mayor Tomas Regalado can only come up with a Tony Crapp, Jr?

Crapp doesn't even live in Miami. He commutes 45 minutes from north Homestead.

This would be a new low, even for Miami.

Another Miami moment.

Don't count your chickens yet, folks. Remember that the mayor is great at slight of hand. I wouldn't be surprised if he's leaking Tony's name so that he can put in his real pick, while everyone's looking the other way.

Anonymous said...

Ha! It will be a Tom-ass kisser for sure, Tony or some other one.

Anonymous said...

"Slight of hand?" I think you give the mayor too much credit.

And the Mayor's godson, and former Police Deputy Chief, Cabrera will be the new assistant manager. He has no qualifications either.

Calling someone a 'fairy' is below you Takeback.

How can Miami become a world class city with a succession of fourth rate City Managers?

Anonymous said...

Whoaaaaaaa. No way in our life time will Miami become a world class city!

felons and fairy, has a nice ring to it

Chairman Marc David Sarnoff, Esquire said...

Mayor Regalado has a keen knack for choosing city personell, including Chief Exposito, the finance gurus Migoya and Spring, and now Tony Crapp. He will make a fine city manager.

Oh Crap ... is that 2p's like pp

Now Miami is going down the crapper.

Miami is getting crapped

Tony "I don't know" Crapp, Jr, is a perfect marriage partner to "Clueless" Mayor Regalado. Now along with Johnny "I'm a nervous tick, but not when Alice Bravo is around" Martinez, Larry "Donkey Kong" Spring, and Peter "I erase all city emails upon instructed to do so to skirt the Public Records Act" Korinis is a perfect management team for the City of Miami.

After all said and done this is the Magic City where money dissappears, emails dissappears, competition dissappears (due to bid rigging), capital construction projects suddenly appears (i.e. traffic circle in front of Sarnoff's house, Park next to Sarnoff's house), Sarnoff's illegal Office disappears and reappears, illegal transfers appears, etc.

It is all "smoke and mirrors and the slight of the hand". But as Sarnoff has already said and continues to inisist, he is the Master of all Magicians and Regalado is the rabbit inside his hat. Sarnoff has basically the entire upper management in his pocket leaving only Crapp and Cabrera in Regalado's corner.

Regalado be careful as you are being set-up extrememly hard! Even the Miami Herald is siding with Marc Sarnoff! Yikes....

Tony Crapp, Jr. will make a good City Manager.

Miami deserves a GREAT City Manager.

Why should the taxpayers get disrespected again?

Anonymous said...

Regalado should choose a City Manager who has private sector experience and who has life experience.

The time for choosing inexperienced Yes men is over.

Anonymous said...

A new low for Regalado...

Oh My Goodness! It is business as usual.. Where did he work before that qualifies him to be a City Manager of a major City. Forget the ethnic background. He has NO experience in a poor City like Miami. He has never worked as the head of a multi deparmental City in any assistant City manager spot. How did he jump so many others?

Anonymous said...

Crapp has no private sector experience. Crapp has no management experience. (Other than managing 2-3 staffers in a small commissioner office.) Crapp has little or no educational experience. Crapp has no experience reducing pay and benefits of massively overpaid union members.

Will Crapp fire useless or corrupt employees from his fraternity? (Spring, Binns, Thompson, Carswell, Woods, Alexander...)

Crapp does not even live in Miami.

A City Manager that doesn't even live in the City .. how does that work?

Anonymous said...

Don;t blame the new city manager for not resideing in the City. Who in their right mind would want to live in a city that is going broke if things don't change fast. The better question to ask is why would anybody with a half of brain take the city managers posistion, after all that has happened to the city. Remember that all these investigations are still on-going and who knows who will be arrested and like most folks I do expect to see several arrests from current members of the city's staff and who knows how many current or former elected officals will also be taken away in handcuffs.

In the real world, a Tony Crapp would be an assistant teller at a community bank making $43,500 per year. For Tony to be making $135,000 per year working at the City of Miami, well, Tony is like a pig in shit. Grinning from ear to ear.

The joke is on us.

Think Tony Crapp cares when "his people" get caught stealing from the City? Hell, he promotes them.

Anonymous said...

Unqualified lazy employees? No problemo for Tony Crapp. Business as usual.

Interesting comment in Eye On Miami. Comment states NAACP types always complain when blacks get fired even when they are fired for stealing or doing crack on video. NAACP types always complain the firing is because they are black and not because they are criminals or drug addicts. Tomas Regalado could be setting himself up for a problem.

First of all I would like to say terrific blog!
I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Kudos!
