DEAR TONY: SUSPEND VELDORA ARTHUR NOW!

The following email was sent by a loyal TBM reader to the City Manager along with the Mayor, City Commissioners, and our pals at The Miami Herald Mayor's Press Office.
Dear Mr. Crapp:

I am outraged by the statement to the Miami Herald of Miami Fire Department spokesman Ignatius Carroll regarding the federal indictment of Assistant Fire Chief Veldora Arthur, to wit:  "Our stance is this is a personal matter that has nothing to do with her role as a fire chief. So right now she has to report to work. She’s innocent until proven guilty.”

Mr. Carroll's statement is in contradiction to the City of Miami's APM 2-98 "Relief of Duty" which states in pertinent part that:

"In the event an employee is under a criminal investigation, said employee shall be relieved of duty with pay until convicted or criminally charged, unless, as determined by the City Manager the arresting charges are significant enough to warrant the employee to be immediately relieved of duty without pay. Once charged criminally the employee shall be carried without pay."  (emphasis mine)

It is your duty as City Manager to make sure the APMs are adhered to and this case should be no different.  Ms. Arthur has, according to the Miami Herald, "been charged along with four others by a federal grand jury with taking part in an $11 million mortgage fraud scheme."

Unless you as City Manager determine that being charged by a federal grand jury of participating in an $11 million mortgage fraud scheme is insignificant, there is no reason why Ms. Arthur is not immediately relived of her duty without pay.

Failure to act on your part not only violates the APMs and your duty as City Manager, but further violates the bond of service between yourself and the citizens that you have sworn to serve, causing a further erosion of trust between the people and city government.

I ask that in the name of all citizens of Miami, you relieve Ms. Arthur from her post without pay.  Failure to do so will force me to seek redress from the Governor of the State of Florida.

We agree!

Tony, is it not enough that she makes $300,000 and has other jobs?  Stop the lies and the abuse of taxpayers and get rid of Veldora Arthur now!!!

  1. The APM is not referring to white collar crime ... Committed by a black ... Making this a gray crime ... So the APM is not at all black and white on the subject ... It is more gray ... And therefore n suspensions for gray areas ... To wit white collar crime committed by a black - gray ... U c ??

  3. I'm a current City of Miami who work at City Hall. I can tell you that this City Manager is different from the last two. Tony never reads anything that is delivered to him. I might even say, I'm questioning his level of literacy. I already know that intelligent he is not. I've shared this with Commissioner Sarnoff, but Sarnoff has told me it is a matter of time.

  5. I also work in City Hall but I do not care that Tony Crapp is an idiot because I am getting paid a great salary for not doing anything, and I get a free car too!

  6. The clueless puppet is crapping in his pants. He does not know what to do because Regalado has not provided him with direction.

  7. Trust me, he is not THAT clueless, he makes close to $200,000 a year for doing nothing, I think that is pretty damned smart.

  8. If Crapp is clueless, Sarnoff must be overjoyed. He'll runright over him and increase his political power through his secret shenanigans.

  9. How can Crapp be clueless when he makes $200,000 a year for doing nothing?

Crapp is VERY smart, he will not get in anyone's way, as long as the checks keep clearing...

  13. With Tony Crapp as city manager, the toilet is filled. Time to flush it. All of them should go - Regalado, Sarnoff, Crapp, Spring, Veldora, Kemp, Exposito, Alvarez, Gomez, Binns, Gonzalez, and the list goes on.

  14. Veldora is not a union employee. She is a management appointment. She has been in appointed positions since atleast 1996.

  16. It is a disgrace that this lady keeps making $300,000 of taxpayer money and she is under indictment. Regalado doesn't give a Crapp about the people, only about himself and making Armando Gutierrez rich. I wonder what Grace Solares and all her activist friends have to say about this? Assholes all of them!

  18. Indictment in a $11 Mil fraud? Buying condos and then refusing to honor mortgages? Criminal, unethical, immoral. Veldora Arthur has likely been stealing from the taxpayers for years. 20 hour work weeks? $300,000 pay package?

    Tony,
Be a man. Fire the corrupt.

  22. Tony,
What will you do? (Besides cashing our paychecks).

  25. Anyone notice the photos of Veldora Arthur, the indicted employee? I wouldn't want to count on her to drag a hose to a burning building. Looks like she has eaten a few too many donuts.

Stop the stealing. Fire her butt.

  27. Tomas Regalado is in charge now. Why does Regalado allow an employee indicted for an $11 Mil crime to keep taking money from taxpayers?

  30. Regalado can't do shit about Valdora. The mayor can't fire an employee, it's the city manager's job to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That's right, Regalado has NO SAY about who gets hired or fired at the City.

I also believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny...

  32. This is Miami where the Mayor can control every decision.

Veldora Arthur? Indicted? Still getting taxpayer money..,
