More trouble at the Miami-Dade County Transit Agency, with the Herald reporting that a late Monday afternoon letter from the FTA to Miami-Dade Transit finding "serious financial management oversight and internal control issues."
Federal audit blasts Miami-Dade Transit agency for shoddy oversight.
Forget that a janitor found money totaling over $23,000 stashed away in a bureaucrats desk.
Forget that the feds have frozen money to Miami-Dade Transit in excess of $180 million.
What we want to know is that the hell is George Burgess doing about it?
This is Miami Bitches, where is perfectly ok to make $400,000 a year of taxpayer money for screwing said taxpayers up and down.
And click here to read Burgess' "ass covering" memo to the Commission.
Written in perfect bureaucrateze, it is word after word of excuses.
Who is ultimately accountable at the County? And why do our County Commissioners not demand accountability from the Manager?
Who will step up and clean this rotten mess?
fire the pig
ReplyDeleteFire him? They should drive him out of Dade County!
ReplyDeleteMiami-Dade County has a Strong Mayor, Carlos Alvarez. Carlos Alvarez is responsible to every failure and for every crime. That is what he wanted when he campaigned for 2-3 years to get the Strong Mayor powers.
ReplyDeleteAlvarez is especially responsible for the taxpayers wasting $400,000+ per year on George Burgess. The two of them engineeered the bailout of the Marlins that will lose the taxpayers over $3 Bil.
They can't fire George Burgess. He knows all of the Mayor's and County Commissioners' skeletons.
ReplyDeleteBurgess will get a $300,000 per year pension. Why would he care if he gets fired?
ReplyDeleteWhy do these incompetent idiots get to keep their jobs?
It is just a matter of months before the tyranny of Burgess is removed from the County. My fear, he will then transfer his tyranny to Jackson. This guy is a joke and a theif!
ReplyDeleteBecause it is Miami, people have no fucking shame. It's not just Cubans as many on here have argued, but the whole political class.
ReplyDeleteBurgess and his mentor Stierheim are prime examples of this. Years and years living off the public tit, and to do what, nothing. There is not a single accomplishment one can point to and say, George Burgess has improved the lives of the citizens of this community. His entire life work has been one of self preservation, a lot of memo writing, and hiding the sins of the mayor and commission.
Even in Bell, California the residents got pissed off enough to throw out the government bums. Here it just continues.
As a matter of fact, really besides the Port Tunnel (a state of Florida project) and Miami International Airport (County Commissioer Jose "Pepe" Diaz's hub to get contracts for the firm he works for), what are the County's major accomplishment except for repairing the infrastructure alread in place and giving contracts to the same contractors time after time.
ReplyDeleteCall your friends at MCM and Armando Gutierrez, he has his grubby little fingers all over the County too.
ReplyDelete500' tall towers for LED advertisements? Just spread a few bribes around... It's Miami!
ReplyDeleteI personally heard Rundle tell someone considering running for circuit court judge that if they wanted to win they HAD TO HIRE Armando Gutierrez. With that in mind do you really think there will ever be justice in this town? All that tells me is that Mr Gutierrez is untouchable. Period. End of story.
ReplyDeleteFor the love of fucking god, what the hell will it take for the Feds to come in and clean this shit hole up??????
The Obama appointed US Attorney General has been talking a lot about prosecuting public corruption cases. In Miami, that should be easy. Except, not a single prosecution yet. Lots of talk, no action.
ReplyDeleteTHE CORRUPTION IN MIAMI IS OUT OF HAND WHERE IS THE JUSTICE???
ReplyDeleteTHIS MUST HAPPEN IN EVERY DEPARTMENT WHERE YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS SCAM AND WHY NOT NO ONE WILL INVESTGATE AND PROSECUTE
we could go on and on people....why hasn't anyone in the mainstream media picked up the story about the Miami Dade Ethics Commission? The Director there is supposedly taking long lunches with his secretary and consuming alcohol! Ask CBS 4 news reported Gary Nelson who wen to the Ethics office and interviewed Mr. Meyer and he admitted that he drinks at lunch with the secretary and said its 'no ones concern?' WHAT? and if you drive drunk on County time in your County car with a county employee and get into an accident and gawd forbid somethings happens while you are DUI, who pays the law suite?? WE DO! The tax payers who live in this county!! If the ecocomy weren't so bad, I'd pack it in and head back to America...I think its now north of Florida!
ReplyDeleteWhat Ethics Commission?
