Billionaire Norman Braman has successfully caused Mayor Carlos Alvarez to face a recall vote on March 15.
What Billionaire Norman Braman has not done is explain to voters what will happen if the Mayor is actually removed from office.
Today we get a hint from the (not to surprising) announcement that County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez is throwing his hat in the ring to be County mayor.
"[I]f an election is held and voters remove Alvarez, commissioners could choose to appoint a mayor for the remainder of Alvarez's term. Such a move would push back a county mayor election until November 2012."
Does anyone in their right mind think that Chairman Joe Martinez and the rest of the County Commissioners are not chomping at the bit to appoint someone to be "interim" mayor?
So who do you think the interim mayor will be?
Alex Penelas
ReplyDeleteNatacha!!!
ReplyDeleteShe has enough balls to get the rest of the idiots on the Commission to go along!
ReplyDeleteBut my money is on Joe Martinez.
I don't know if they will be that dumb. The public sentiment will be that they want to elect the replacement. If they don't, I think they would seriously be in danger of facing their own recall. Should be interesting!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they will be that dumb?
ReplyDeleteHave they as a group ever shown to be anything but dumb?
And why isn't Braman worried about Regalado? Oh yeah, Regalado is his pal. Just wait until all the shit on the CRA comes out.
Natasha is already working behind the scenes to be interim mayor and has promised to appoint Joe Martinez police director.
ReplyDeleteDear Norman:
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping all eyes on the County while Armando and I rob the City of Miami blind.
To show my gratitude, there will be a nice little "gift" from the CRA to you.
XOXO
Tomas

ReplyDeleteIt might be hard for hwer to accomplish this if she's recalled as well.
You think she cares? Seriously, what did you think she meant with her little comment that it would come back to bite the Commission. Natasha knows no fear, she is not done yet.
ReplyDeleteBraman has unleashed a Pandora's box here.
If the Miami-Dade Commission decides to appoint versus another election, then we should all join in to recall the remaining Commissioners, because it clearly shows that they don't get it.
ReplyDeleteAs for Carlos Gimenez to run for Mayor, anybody who is striking deals with Commissioner Sarnoff should not be remotely considered for public office. It my mind we need a new slate of Miami-Dade County and City of Miami Mayors and Commissioners.
ALL THESE MOTHER FUCKERS ARE CORRUPTED!
Why didn't Braman go after the Commissioners who VOTED to increase taxes? Alvares PROPOSED the budget and the Commissioners APPROVED it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Braman lets Regalado get away with murder.
No matter who runs for mayor it is clear that the people of Miami-Dade want a change the city's leadership. Tax increases to hike the pay of certain county officials and ballpark subsidies are not good for the struggling taxpayers of Miami.
ReplyDeleteAfter all of the bullshit cuts, was the millage rate lowered in Miami? NO
ReplyDeleteInstead, we pay higher garbage fees, with reduced service.
Regalado is a disaster and I don't hear any rumblings about recalling him.
It really makes me wonder what the REAL motivation is behind Braman recalling Alvarez, but not Regalado.
Agree with Anon 12:45.
ReplyDeleteWhy Alvarez and not Regalado?
The Herald won't dare ask because they are afraid of losing their major advertiser Braman.
A crazy ol' billionaire controls the hearts and minds of the people of Miami. In this town everything is for sale, including people's votes.
ReplyDeleteGimenez has not cut any deals with Sarnoff. They are like oil and water. Whoever started that rumor has other interests. They don't get along. By the way, that rumor was started by saying that Sarnoff was going to support Gimenez, if Gimenez supported Migoya for head of Jackson. Well, Gimenez was interviewed by Dan Ricker, the Watchdog, on that very subject, and he said that he would prefer a seasoned hospital adminstrator, so, there goes that theory. . .
ReplyDeleteMigoya is drunk with power, so is Burgess. These old men need to leave town and make way for principled young professionals, unless they have all left Miami already.
ReplyDeleteCarlos Alvarez and at least 9 commissioners voted to give $120 Mil in raises to already well paid public sector employees. (Unemployment in Miami-Dade County at 16%.) Alvarez demanded that taxpayers pay $3.5 BILLION to the Marlins.
ReplyDeleteVoters are pissed.
So why take it out only on Alvarez?
ReplyDeleteWhy not take out the Commission too?
And Regalado has done far worse than Alvarez, yet Braman says he is a proven leader.
Voters are pissed, but they are also being incredibly misled.
Why should anybody care if a interim mayor is appointed. The county government has demonstrated time and time again that they are unable and refuse to do the necessary business of running the day to day operation of the county. They were not elected for their grand ideas, they were elected to insure services are provided to all county residences. They really think they are very important people who have all the answers, but we all know the truth. Respect is earned and not many of the ugly Americans who now represent us at the county level deserve no respect all. The only thing that separates our local politicians from a street walker is that the whore will be more truthful than the politicans.
ReplyDelete"The only thing that separates our local politicians from a street walker is that the whore will be more truthful than the politicans."
ReplyDeleteThe whore is cheaper too.
Sarnoff for County Mayor !!!
ReplyDeleteYaaAaaaaaa Y !!!!
Yaaaaaaaay !!
The Miami Herald reported today that Carlos Gimenez has decided to run for County Mayor if Alvarez's recall is successful. However, the Herald was not the first to report this. Check below what has been posted by a blogger on Investigation Miami.
ReplyDeleteTHIS WAS POSTED BACK AS A COMMENT ON INVESTIGATION MIAMI'S BLOG POSTING ALMOST 3 WEEKS AGO ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 8TH. THIS PROVES THAT BLOGGERS ARE COMING OUT TO PROVIDE ACCURATE AND CRITICAL DETAILS OF THE "DIRTY POLITICS" IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF MIAMI.
Commissioner Sarnoff has always been on Mayor Manny Diaz's team. When Mayor Regalado hired Carlos Migoya, Sarnoff and his team, and Diaz laughed. It was their goal to start getting rid of certain honest, non-political, city employees who knew too much, except for those they know either totally support their agenda or have to lie to protect their careers (i.e. Larry Spring, Diana Gomez, Pieter Bockweg, etc.).
Katherine Fernandez-Rundle is a dear and close fiend of ex-Mayor Manny Diaz. If you recall, they establish their friendship during the Elian Gonzalez ordeal. Diaz represented Elian and Rundle was then and still is the Miami-Dade State Attorney. Most of Sarnoff's unethical behavior is from Diaz's playbook. Why, hasn't Rundle moved forward with investigating Commissioner Sarnoff?
Well, at first, it had to with the people who had to be investigated (including Manny Diaz, Francois Illas, Marc Sarnoff, Brian May, Art Noriega, Rodney Barreto, Alex Penelas, Jorge Perez, etc). She runs in the same inner circles and would shed light to what she has been up to during the time before the County's Mayoral elections. The only person she went after was ex-Miami Commissioner Spence-Jones who knew too much for Diaz's and Sarnoff's sake.
Today, she is becoming increasingly concern about her chances of becoming the County's mayor. Ms. Rundle has brokered a deal with Marc Sarnoff and his power brokers (i.e. Steve Marin, Brian May, Rodney Barreto, etc.)to support and raise funds for her run as the next County Mayor. They have agreed to it. However, Sarnoff has told Commissioner Carlos Gimenez he would be supporting him. This is simply not true. Sarnoff told this to Gimenez so Gimenez can endorse Sarnoff to replace Gimenez as County Commissioner.
What is even more interesting is how Carlos Gimenez has been playing "hard politics" to raise his notoriety beyond his District at the behest of Marc Sarnoff.
How? You may ask. Marc told Carlos Gimenez to go after Elnida Rodan, CEO of Jackson Hospital, to force her to resign.
THE PLAN....to replace her with their good friend Carlos Migoya (Migoya hired and employed the County Commissioner's son Carlos Gimez Jr. before he decided to study law and become an attorney). If successful, Gimenez Sr. would garner the support of not only Sarnoff, but of Migoya's good friend, Jorge Perez, and of Sarnoff's power brokers.
Mr. Carlos Gimenez Sr. and Ms. Rundle you are both being played, similar to how Mayor Regalado has been played. Mr. Gimenez you are not being supported by Sarnoff, he is just saying that seeking your endorsement and all of your suporters from your District to increase Sarnoff's chances on becoming the next County Commissioner. Ms. Rundle, you are also being played, because his support for you, results in your lack of effort of investigating and prosecuting him.
While he screws you both, ultimatley the winner will be the person Sarnoff cares most about. You guessed it, Marc Sarnoff.
My advise to the both of you. Make this a fair election between the both of you, Rundle and Gimenez. You, Rundle, can start by investigating Sarnoff and prosecuting him. Gimenez, you can follow by not supporting and listening to Sarnoff.
Let's not forget these fucking deals being brokered!
ReplyDeleteWe need to make sure that Carlos Gimenez, Katherine Fernandez-Rundle, and Marc Sarnoff are not elected. ALL OF THESE FUCKERS ARE CORRUPTED!
7:53, you forgot to sign your name. But we all know it's you Armando Gutierrez. The posting is fool of falsehoods and it is very clear you are out of the loop by what you are claiming. it is your typical "throw shit out there to create a diversion" while you rob the city blind. Despicable behavior.
ReplyDelete8:05, Well said. Amen to that.
7:53 Notice that the most corrupt people, Tomas and Armando, should not be investigated.
ReplyDeleteAda, get back to work!
AL Crespo for County Mayor!!!!! Let the bullshit stop and put someone in there that cares about the county!
ReplyDeleteArmando Gutierrez will line up to kiss Crespo's ass.
ReplyDeleteBraman's lucrative car business is located within Mayor Regalado's juridiction. I'm sure that rich old bastard is getting some sweetheart deals from the Mayor. How else can you explain this odd couple?
ReplyDeleteFocus people.
ReplyDeleteEven if it is done one corrupt out-of-touch politician at a time, remove each and every one of the greedy bastards.
What a complete joke. Gimenez and Sarnoff can barely stand each other. Gimenez has come out publically as said he would prefer a seasoned hospital administrator rather than Sarnoff favorite Migoya. Kathy Fernandez-Rundle and Gimenez are not exaclty friends. Marin is working on the Lorente campaign, check the disclosures if you don't believe me. Marin and Sarnoff are tied at the hip. By the way, I wouldn't be surprized that if Gimenez doesn't win for County Mayor, that we would see him running against Sarnoff a few months later for City Commission. The only reason Roldan is out is because she lied on the public record. It had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with Sarnoff... PLEASE! Enough with the really lame lies. The facts are not on your side, Mr. Lamo!
ReplyDeleteThat creep Steve Marin working for a Miami-Dade County pretender/candidate? Ick.
ReplyDeleteOn the Lorente campaign?
Please confirm so we can be sure to vote for "anyone but".
Well, apparently, Marin has jumped off the Llorente ship, seeing that he has no chance, and, instead, has lined up with Robaina because Gimenez will not play his style of dirty politics. Wow, this just happened this week.. Amazing. He got some money out of Llorente for some initial work done, used him, and moved on. Talk about loyalty.
